Reflecting on lessons learned in 2024
As we begin to indulge in comforts and enjoy plenty of family time, I’ve been reflecting on the lessons I've learned from my first few months on this new journey:
✨ It’s all about the people!
→ Networking is everything
Some days are more challenging than others, but connecting with people is invaluable. Not only can it lead to potential clients, but there’s always something new to learn! 'Grab a coffee' is never just a coffee; take the time to schedule them in, as you never know what opportunities you might gain or what insights you might share.
→ Community matters
Having a support network of fellow freelancers and creatives in the industry has been essential. They help answer tricky questions, spot red flags in projects, and share tools that encourage a more efficient workflow.
→ Share, share, share
I've always been a bit hesitant, but posting consistently has proven to be a great way to showcase my work and remain visible to clients and collaborators. Sharing shouldn’t be limited to completed projects; behind-the-scenes insights and helpful tips are valuable too.
✨ Every day is a school day!
There’s always room for growth, so don’t be afraid to try new things. You’re constantly learning on the job—and that’s perfectly okay.
✨ Be kind to yourself!
It’s easy to compare yourself to others, but we’re all on our own paths. I remind myself that I can’t do everything at once, and resting is as equally as important as the 'doing'. By setting priorities and goals, I’ve felt more in control while ensuring that all my future ideas are logged.
